    Steve Douche-y sings Cheryl Crow:

    "Lie to me...I promise, I'll belive you....Lie to me...but please...don't...leeeaavvee!"

If you ever have had to wait in a car shop for auto repair, this is what you have to put up with on the teevee.
  • llyn · 1 year ago
@rptrcub: Thank FSM I can do nearly all my banking online, because the TV at the branch bank nearest us is almost always on Fox when I go in there, and that is very unhealthy for me and anyone else within earshot.

    @ rptrub,

    And at the freakin gym.
  • rptrcub · 1 year ago
Being forced to watch Lou Dobbs last night in the fitness center was actually motivating me with pure anger that made me able to run at 6 mph for a sustained amount of time (I'm a fast walker, but not so good at running -- workouts are usually 35-55 mins of walking 4.5-4.9 MPH). O'Reilly gives me roid rage.

oh good heavens, if your gym is playing that nonsense, you need a new gym.
mine is all sports teevee all the time.

This comment system bites donkey balls!
  • nojo · 1 year ago
@FCS: Bite it does, but any port in a storm. The Caddy's still in the shop.

    @ rptrcub,

You go cubbie! I prefer lifting weights myself (I like tha muscley guys), but I took up running about a year ago. I set a new distance record on Sunday: 5 1/2 miles--woo hoo! Slow and steady wins the race.

I am missing the pithy commentary, referencing donkey balls barely stays the shakes.

My gym workout coincides with the commie reality tv show 'Dom 2'. It's best not to be on the free weights as you are sure to over extend yourself, spotter or no. I want to kill those people.
  • Wisterley · 1 year ago
I have made scenes in gyms all over the US about the ghastly music and teeveeing played WAY too loud. I flounce about and yell at over-muscled dopes who could not conceive of a world played at less than 11.

    I go hiking instead.

@Wisterley (I know who you really are): In several places in my town, medical and dental waiting rooms inflict TV on the hapless sufferers stuck there. I try to boycott such places if they are not instantly agreeable to having the volume turned down, if there are other people besides me waiting, or off, if I'm the only "patient" in the waiting room.

    @ "Wisterley"

You're very tweedy today, LaDouche. Feeling your roots?

minor quibble: is there no log-out?

    major quibble: double donkey balls.
  • nojo · 1 year ago
@tony: It's a roach motel in here -- nobody logs out.

Unless they click that "options" button at the top of the comments, where secrets are revealed.

Disqus is a powerful comment system that easily enhances the discussion on websites.
  • FlyingFuckingChainSaw · 1 year ago
Disqus is the smegma taco of commenting software that you get when you really need a fucking cheese sandwich of commenting software! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? Palin is fucking satanic lizards from hell and birthing million of huge cockroaches in NFL jersies who will vote for her even if she eats her own pets and light vast mountain ranges of taxpayer money aflame. Everything is so perfectly fucked! When will Steven King jump out and rewrite the ending?

I am so tired of this aging fraud talking about banking regulations. The entire reason he avoids talking econ is that he is a Keating Five scumbag and he desperately strives to avoid reminding anyone of that. After being involved in the death of the S&Ls, his "hand's off" advocacy of banking reg. and/or support of deregulation got us where we are today. OH, and his dark spawn son fled the board of Silver State bank just before it imploded. Loathsome, the lot of them.

My public gym at the nearby community center has no tvs or nothin', so we gots to bring our own iPods or whatever. We have a bunch of people walking around in their own worlds, lifting, walking, doing cardio or whatever, cept for the folks playing hoops or racquetball. Interaction is very civil amongst our fairly diverse crowd, though. I listened to almost all of "Death Magnetic" today. For some reason I can't load my copy of NIN's "The Slip" that I got for free from their nin.com onto iTunes. Any ideas, O geeks who walk amongst us?

@RML: This totally sounds like my local YMCA on the Embarcadero in SF. No loud pounding music, no teevees on FOXNews (other than the few teevees -none on FOXNews - on the bikes) and lots of not-younger, not-skinny, not-able-bodied folks. Very few hard-bodied muscle-head folks - just regular folks of all colors, ages, sexual persuasions there before/after work or on their lunch break to lift weights or go swimming. Oh, and the school for the drop-out/kicked-out kids from the public schools is in the basement. If only we could bring dogs to the Y, then I would never leave and wish that the apartments that existed in the 40s above the Y still existed.

I have no nerd tips. But I love NIN. I loved them in the mid-80s when I was a goth black-clothes-clad chick in Texas.
